clubZone Acquires Clubvibes for $500,000

VANCOUVER, BC – Today, myZone Media, a 10-year-old provider of nightlife marketing services and owner of clubZone.com and ticketZone.com, announced that they have purchased Clubvibes for half a million dollars cash. 

myZone Founder and CEO, Mike Schwarz, announced that all assets, including Clubvibes.com and the popular Vancouver Nightlife Awards, were purchased to better prepare for expansion to the top 100 cities in the world. Former President of Clubvibes, Joel Weinmaster, will stay on board as myZone’s new CTO.

"Joel and I have worked together in the past and I’ve found that he and I have very complementary skill sets," said Schwarz. "Combined with the marketing reach of the myZone network, I’m really excited to see how Clubvibes technology and Joel’s talent will increase our ability to go global quickly. We just love to provide people with information on the night’s best parties!" 

In coming months, Clubvibes will be integrated into the myZone network of nightlife websites, which are receiving significant backend upgrades. In early 2013, all non-ticketed events will be managed from one central location and ticketZone customers will be syndicated on Clubvibes.com, ranking the same way they do on clubZone.com. myZone Media will continue to maintain the integration of third party ticket feeds with Clubvibes so long as they are not in conflict with events posted on ticketZone.

"I’m very happy to merge forces with myZone and help take this business model around the world," said Weinmaster. “I believe that together we can provide a better product for our consumer.”

Schwarz and Weinmaster have a professional history as co-founders of the original Clubvibes website. As young entrepreneurs in Vancouver, their original office turned apartment was located on the second floor of a mini-storage building in the city. The two worked night and day to grow the site quickly and allow it to become one of Vancouver’s first social networking sites, several years before Facebook or mySpace.

In 2002, the pair declined a $2.5 million buyout offer for Clubvibes and subsequently parted ways. In 2003, Schwarz went on to create clubZone, a competitive business model to Clubvibes, but has now come full circle in working again with an old business partner and friend.
