Imagine Bassmusic, with an analogue soul, coming straight from the motherland of Electro. Sounds good? Well, thats Marten.
Over the last year Marten Hrger has been publically hailed as the bonified hero of the Stanton Warriors, the Plump DJs and Krafty Kuts, and was slated to be the man to watch by DJ Icey! These praises have been backed up with commissions to provide official remixes for all three superstar acts. And all this while hes in the studio with Leeroy Thornhill (the Prodigy) to record an Album as SMASH HIFI)
Not being old enough to visit a club legally Marten kick-started his musical career at the age of 15 with a residency at Douala, one of south Germanys most famous underground venues. Since that tender age, Marten has spent years DJing alongside just about every major name in Germany, as well as the international giants whom passed through the country. He developed his unique and aptly titled, I dont give a fuck, blend of Breaks, Electro, Dubstep and Hip Hop and ever since, hes been famous for celebrating every party like its his last.
This reputation for being a party animal led to international bookings the world over – from Brixton to Brisbane to Ibiza and Siberia; including four Australian tours, three North American tours, and billings at major festivals and internationally renown institutions such as the Love Parade, Fabric, Shambhala, Mayday, KaZantip, Streetparde, Tresor, Breakspoll, Nature One, Notting Hill Carneval and many more.
In 2006, Boogie Army exploded onto the international scene with a plethora of outstanding original and remixes releases on Labels like Westway Records, Carepack Rec, Ministry of Sound and Genepoole Recordings. The most notable release was of course, Sex, Drugs, RocknRoll, which became one of the Breakbeat anthems of 2007 and found place on just about every mix to be compiled at the time.
In late 2008, Marten began SMASH HIFI – a new Tech, Electro and Breakbeat project with the much famed, Leeroy Thornhill (formerly of the Prodigy)! Their debut single, “Everything You Need”, featured a world class music video. Since then, the boys have been busy in the studio hammering out one remix after another, playing countless epic, four hour, marathon DJ Sets across the globe and more recently, working on their debut album.
Apart from being a DJ, Producer, party connoisseur, and all-around-nice-guy, Marten runs several monthly club nights in Germany and Austria including the infamous, Stamina Club, which has just celebrated its 10th anniversary, with its booking and artist management, side arm, Stamina Agency, responsible for bringing the worlds premier bass music artists to Germany and Austria.
Fusing two fresh-off-the-mountain electronic music addicts, Tim and Dave together create 12 feet and 350 lbs of turbo-funk-boosted, snowsuit-donning man flesh. Hailing from the world famous ski town of Whistler, this dynamic duo loves shredding fresh power almost as much as they love smashing out hit records in the studio.
Producing & preforming together for over four years, they are like savage yetis feeding off of each other during their high energy live shows (which often feature snow machines & loud retro ski gear) while they blast though genres playing everything funky from bassline house to black-diamond twerk.
The boys have tracks released on multiple labels including Simplified Recordings, Resoul Records, and Riddim Fruit Records. While constantly developing their sound, they have enjoyed chart success on Beatport & had multiple #1 hits on Juno Download. Ghetto Funk & Free Breaks Blog have shown them blog love repeatedly, Mixmag has given a glowing review, & they were recently featured in DJ Mag Canada.
SkiiTour has spent the past winter touring all over western Canada, and their summer festival schedule is rammed full with bookings at Shambhala, Bass Coast, Tall Tree, Astral Harvest, & Connect.
