NEON STEVE BIO:
say nice guys finish last but that certainly isnt the case for one of Western
Canadas most talked about DJ/Producers; Neon Steve. This peer-declared nice
guy has jumped ahead of the game and is quickly showing why hes held down top
spots on Beatport, Juno, Hype Machine and Soundcloud hot charts, taken top
spots in DJ Challenges in addition to being voted locally as the best
Electronic producer in 2012.
Comfortable rinsing out everything from Future Bass to Drum
and Bass, Neon Steve has developed a reputation for playing high energy sets
that blend and twist conventional genres. His production ranges in tempos but
hes most at home working on bass music full of low end frequencies.
Neon Steve’s production and remix work is widely talked
about and has seen him working alongside some of the biggest and best known
bass artists in EDM. Remix credits include Datsik & Bare, The Beekeepers,
Rico Tubbs, Mooqeee, Herbgringer and Excision & Downlink (x2), the latter
of which sat at the top of Beatport’s Top 10 Dubstep chart for well over a
month and was licensed to a Ministry of Sound Compilation. In addition, Neon
Steves remix of Breachs ‘Jack’ caught the attention of Mad Decent label
figure Diplo and was featured on his BBC 1Xtra show.
Besides remixes, Neon Steve’s original releases have been
charting themselves. Many of his releases on Bombstrikes, including two vinyl
releases, topped Juno charts as best sellers and his original track, Got This
Feeling taken from his Feeling EP, was featured in MixMag as Tune of the Month.
While 2012 saw Neon Steve touring Europe, UK and Canada,
2013 took him down under as he got a chance to rinse out in the outbacks of
Australia and New Zealand. 2014 will see him continue globetrotting as he looks
to touch down in Europe, and USA in addition to a reappearance in Australia.
Already well known for his festival sets, including many major Canadian
festivals appearances at places like Shambhala (Fractal Forest), Neon Steve
continues to show why he’s one of Canada’s most talked about DJ/Producers.
Never slowing down and always forward thinking, Neon Steve
is not an artist you’ve heard the last of. With 2014 looking to propel him
ahead, he is well on his way injecting a bit of brightness amongst some of bass
musics brightest stars.
Chandler aka Slynk had music on the mind from birth. Naturally gifted with a
musical ear he flirted with a range of classical instruments including piano,
guitar and drums.
In 2004, Slynk received a gift that would
inevitably set the wheels in motion. A set of turntables motivated the aspiring
DJ, and consequently resulted in an unremitting addiction to vinyl. The two
years following, in his hometown Brisbane, Slynk secured a residency in an
underground New York inspired caf. Here he refined his skills, experimented
and educated his peers and fans with mash up productions of classic hip hop,
ingrained with rare and funky, rhythmically savvy grooves.
In April 2008 local DJ agencies started showing a zealous interest and in time
Slynk was running rampage and shaking rumps throughout Brisbanes most
notorious funky joints. Bedroom DJ no longer, Slynk was fulfilling his destiny
as one of Australias leading funky breakbeat DJs and producers.
Regular interstate and international gigs reaped overwhelming support and love
from the worlds most respected funky breaks vinyl slingers including A Skillz,
Krafty Kuts, Featurecast, Mooqee, Fort Knox Five, Freddy Fresh Worldwide, Craig
Charles (BBC 6Music) and many more. In 2009 Slynk smashed the Fractal Forest
stage at Canadas biggest breakbeat festival, Shambhala, simultaneously
releasing his first three vinyls on respected ghetto funk labels Goodgroove and
Manmade. All of which featured in Juno Records Best of Breakbeat 2009 list
hitting number 1, 12 & 30. 2011 saw Slynk invited back to smash Fractal
Forest again, this time opening up for the king of ghetto funk, A Skillz.
Slynks reputation stems from his inventory of unreleased and unsigned party
style ghetto funk bootlegs, remixes and edits. His work is highly sought after
by DJs around the world while his forward momentum knows no boundaries,
releasing more tracks with Jalapeno Records Goodgroove, Manmade, Breakbeat
Paradise, Roca Records, Bombstrikes and Discocakes.
Recently destroying the snow season dance floors at Perisher NSW and the
beautiful beaches of Byron Bay NSW the funky breakbeat prodigy is ready to take
on winter in Canada for February & March 2012. With new tunes,
collaborations and projects always in the pipelines, youre guaranteed a fresh
show every time.
TIMOTHY WISDOM BIO:
Wisdom is a captivating performer. His astonishing sets flow over every
contemporary genre and tempo, fusing live MCing, singing, turntablism and
incredible hype into a fully engaging show. Every tune, an original production
or custom remix, is crafted from his more than twenty years of making large
crowds lose themselves in the music. Dubbed as the “Voice of Ghetto
Funk”, Timothy’s sets are unique sessions, filled with spontaneous lyrical
content and a charisma that literally lifts audiences off their feet.
Timothy has toured the world, taking his show to more than 13 countries and
headlining major festivals such as Bass Coast, Burning Man, Astral Harvest and
Vancouver’s International Folk Festival. From a massive rave in the Czech
Republic, to a dark club in the London underbelly, to the forests of Western
Canada, his skills at hyping up a crowd are in such demand that Shambhala, the
world’s top Breakbeat festival, has Timothy performing at and hosting several
of the stages each year.
A scientist of sound, in 2001 Timothy invented the world’s first digital
force-feedback turntable – the predecessor to the standard Serato and Traktor
setups. His dedication to electronic music extends to his musical productions,
found in the charts and record bags of sharp DJs across the globe. Working with
labels such as Ghetto Funk, ReSoul, Bombstrikes, Bombastic Jam and Manmade,
