Since opening its doors in 1999, Fly nightclub has hosted some of the world's biggest and most talented DJ's and performance artists, establishing itself as one of the world' premier dance clubs. Much more than just an impressive sound system and light show, Fly is a 10,000 sq foot venue, home to the absolute best parties, week after week. Fly is the original Babylon from television's Queer as Folk and the recipient of countless best dance club in Toronto awards. The line may be long to get in at times, but it's usually worth it at this predominantly gay hotspot. At least you'll be entertained by the tough, but friendly door staff. Once you pass through and go downstairs, two chill-out lounges await you. The black and white lounge has a bar, and the blue mirror lounge is a great place to take a break, cuddle, and chat. Upstairs opens around 11 p.m. It's a cavernous space with the main dance floor and lots of nooks and crannies. House, tribal and circuit music sounds blast you away -- especially if you're dancing or standing by one of the huge speakers near the alleyway to the main bar at the back. Above are two balconies, a catwalk, and numerous chill-out spaces that will hide you away from the world. Chill in the H2O lounge, big and spacious with lots of furniture and water lighting creating the illusion that you are lounging in the water. As the night progresses, party boys and girls make their own impromptu dance floors wherever they please. This club has one of the best light shows and sound systems in the gay scene. Fly's resident DJs are Shawn Riker and Mark Falco. Frequent guests include Stephan Grondin of Montreal, and DJ Guido of New York (who once took a 12-hour train ride to make his gig because he loves the crowd so much). Source: toronto.com
