When you hear Jack Rabbit Slims, the name of the East Village’s newest bar, you might conjure up images of the 50’s style soda shop in Pulp Fiction. Luckily, you’d be dead wrong. This new joint is more like Times Square in the 70’s than suburbia in the 50’s–a sort of “strip-club meets subway” ambiance that’s sure to attract all those nostalgic for a pre-Disneyfied New York City. Complete with stripper poles, subway decor and vintage porn movies ( who needs Showtime at night? ), you can’t find a better example of white trash, glam rock nastiness anywhere this side of Broadway.
