Miami nightlife was transformed with the opening of Mokai, one of the best and most (if not the most) exclusive nightclub and lounge. At just 4,000 square feet of party, events, and dance space - and with capacity capped at 220 club-happy patrons, the lounge is an intimate departure from the same camp that brought you Mynt. DJs spin the latest house and hip-hop music as the lucky 220 inside can kick their feet up on wooden ottomans, lay back against brick walls, and admire the "Lord of the Rings" vibe. A Member of Miami’s top four nightclubs; Opium Garden, Privé, Mansion and SET, and a driving force behind South Beach’s ongoing cultural renaissance; The Opium Group has been heralded by Harpers’s Bazaar, Travel & Leisure, People, Time, The Miami Herald, and numerous other publications for drawing A-list celebrities and the international jet-set to Miami Beach. Mokai’s grand showcase bar is the focal point of this hotspot, featuring a dramatic backbar display for bottles and glassware. Guests are invited to drink a variety of spirits and champagnes at the bar, or servers donning La Femme Nikita attire and Mad Max-inspired uniforms provide VIP table service with packages available. The DJ booth reign’s supreme at Mokai, where hip hop, rock and house music formats are spun by a celebrated collection of top DJs nightly. Frequented by celebrities like to let loose in Mokai’s festive setting, perfect for a special event and new years eve countdowns.

Moka But once you are past that iron velvet rope, thats when all of the pretensions end. Hidden safely away from pesky paparazzi, these celebs, VIPs & high rollers are here to have fun. Tuesdays DJ supplies powerful mixes that fuel nonstop dancing and because it is so small and cozy, the vibe feels like an intimate house party being thrown in an A-listers NYC loft. Groups of people mesh into each other and there is none of that cliquish behavior seen at other Miami clubs. This isnt a see and be seen joint because everyone is somebody here and when we say the entire club is one big VIP we mean itit looks like 90% of the room is taken up by those ber fabulous VIP tables with their big, black, beefy wrap around leather couches (is that alligator skin??) and every single one of them is taken. Apparently being exclusive isnt the only way that the owners wanted to stand out. Most of the other clubs on the beach are decorating with whites and metals, Mokai bathed its spot in deep dark jewel tones, huge heavy VIP sections, stone walls and creative lighting. Even the staff is designer in their custom Hugo Boss attire and there is plenty of staff to make sure that your glass is always full or that you never run out of table mixers. Now if you could only get on that list Why Its Hot: Despite being ultra exclusive, Mokai has one of the best vibes we have seen on the beach. Whether you plan to dance the night away or just chill with friends, this club makes it easy to do both. Why Its Not: Warning, unless you are able to grab one of the quick-selling tables or can secure a coveted spot on their guest list, the closest you will ever get to the inside of Mokai is by reading this review.
