Privately owned and operated, groundbreaking for Pepsi Center took place on November 20, 1997. Since opening October 1, 1999 with a sold-out performance by Celine Dion, Pepsi Center has hosted a wide variety of events including hockey and basketball games, musical acts, ice extravaganzas and circuses.
Designed by HOK Sports Facilities Group of Kansas City, Pepsi Center occupies a 4.6-acre footprint in Denver’s central Platte Valley. With more than 675,000 square feet of building space, the five-level facility is a premier sports and entertainment destination. Home of the NBA’s Denver Nuggets, NHL’s Colorado Avalanche, AFL’s Colorado Crush and NLL’s Colorado Mammoth, Pepsi Center seats 19,099 for basketball games and 18,007 for hockey, arena football and lacrosse games. Depending on stage configuration, Pepsi Center seats between 500 and 20,000 for concerts and other events. Pepsi Center features 95 luxury suites located on two levels and 1,900 ADT club seats.
Pepsi Center offers the best in both fine and casual dining. The Lexus Club, located on the ADT Club Level concourse, is an exclusive restaurant offering an upscale, fine dining experience for up to 350 people. Features such as slate flooring, granite countertops and an open fireplace create an atmosphere reminiscent of a rustic ski lodge. The Denver Post Newsroom, also located on the ADT Club Level concourse, offers granite countertops, stuffed leather chairs and an open-air view of Pepsi Center’s Grand Atrium. The spacious lounge also offers a sleek, club-like look and provides views of Denver and the majestic Rocky Mountains. Blue Sky Grill, located on the ground level of Pepsi Center, offers hearty western cuisine in a mountain lodge setting. Items featured on the Blue Sky Grill menu include Q Creek Bison Steak, Applewood Smoked Pork Chops grilled and topped with caramelized apple jam and Pan Seared Rocky Mountain Trout topped with brown butter and capers.
The Qwest Business Center features five, state-of-the-art conference rooms complete with audio and video conferencing technology, CD and DVD players, high-speed Internet access, computer ports, satellite hook-up capabilities and facsimile machines. The Qwest Business Center is located on the ADT Club Level concourse and each room features outdoor balconies overlooking the Rocky Mountains.
Pepsi Center is one of the very few sports venues in North America that provides a separate practice facility for its team. The Berger Funds NBA Practice Court is a full-size basketball court utilized by the Denver Nuggets for all practice sessions.
Altitude Authentics specializes in Denver Nuggets, Colorado Avalanche, Colorado Crush and Colorado Mammoth merchandise. Located in the Grand Atrium on the ground level of Pepsi Center, Altitude Authentics is open Monday through Saturday and during every Nuggets, Avalanche, Crush and Mammoth home game.
Additional features of Pepsi Center include a cutting-edge sound and lighting system, a 60,000 lb. center-hung scoreboard featuring an eight-sided matrix/game-in-progress board and a four-sided Sony LED JumboTron.
