Revolutionizing surfing in the 1970’s, the invention of the three fin “Thruster” surfboard is often credited to Australia’s Simon Anderson. Since then, this third fin has been helping surfers to absolutely kill it. Since 1999, Thrusters Cocktail Lounge in Pacific Beach has helped welcome San Diegans home to an intimate and classic cocktail lounge by the sand in Pacific Beach. One block from the sand, Thruster’s Lounge presents a mix of tufted booths, stone, recycled copper and glass fixtures, and dark wood columns and beams, merged with artistic and vintage skateboard and surf paraphernalia. Thrusters Lounge is a full entertainment venue, offering DJ’s, bands, and dancing nightly. Thrusters Lounge also offers, all NFL, NCAA, College Football packages, and more, on 12 HD plasma screens. Thrusters offers 20 beers on draft in addition to Pacific Beach’s largest selection of Craft Bottled Beer as well as our own specialty drinks. In collaboration with our neighboring kitchen at Mad Dog Cafe’ we now also a new full menu ranging from our 6 signature Chicago Style sausages, grass-fed organic beef and chicken sliders and other traditional pub fare. Over 11 years has passed since Thrusters established itself within Pacific Beach’s cultural scene. Thrusters has been home to many celebrations and is honored to be one of P.B.’s favorite local spots. Thruster’s is a DJ Nursery. Thrusters has sunk its roots deep into San Diego’s Music and Service Industry networks, with some of San Diego’s best DJ’s and bands getting started right here at Thrusters Lounge. Remodeled in 2010, Thrusters now boasts all the amenities of a classy lounge within a stones throw from the beautiful sands of Pacific Beach and Crystal Pier.

Nicholas has focused his work in the service industry for over 15 years. Within the former space of The Roller Derby Bar, and The Matador Bar, Thruster’s Lounge opened its doors in 1999. Nicholas is the designer and managing partner of Thrusters Lounge, handling all financial, legal, and administrative aspects. Nicholas’ interest in food, coffee, and libations also led him to operating the Pacific Bean Cafe in Pacific Beach, from 2007 until 2009, during which time he established Pacific Beach’s first Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) drop off in conjunction with Tierra Miguel Farm in Escondido. Nicholas was a co-founder and partner from 2005 – 2010 of Farm255 restaurant in Athens, GA, a nationally acclaimed slow food themed restaurant with a design of artisan farm industrial, boasting brick accents, reclaimed wood, and suspended I-Beams. Nicholas received his B.S. in Finance from Northern Arizona University and his J.D. from California Western School of Law, and is an active member of the California Bar Association. Nicholas is a member of the Board of Directors for the San Diego Food and Beverage Association, and is also an active member of the Pacific Beach Town Council, Hospitality Task Force, and Business Improvement District. Nicholas was born in Wisconsin, and raised in San Diego. Nicholas lives and plays in Pacific Beach with his wife Kathleen, and their two children.
Joining Thrusters Lounge in 2000, Mo handles all aspects of the lounge’s day to day business and is the operational partner of Thruster’s Lounge. Mo additionally oversees all event, DJ, and band bookings for the lounge. Mo attended Whittier College in California, and graduated from SDSU in San Diego with a degree in Business Management. Mo was born in Tehran, Iran and had lived in London, England as a child, before moving to San Diego where he was raised. Mohsen lives in La Jolla with his wife Julie and their two dogs Mia and Saydee.
