Zeitgeist Gallery Detroit

Zeitgeist DETROIT (a.k.a. ZEITGEIST Gallery and Performance Venue) has a
rare, raw, intuitive, outsider vision for the gallery that was inspired
by the late Jacques Karamanoukian, artist, thinker, art dealer,
humanitarian. The gallery began in the fall of 1997 and was initially
started and operated by Karl Schneider, painter & sculptor, after Troy
Richard bought the building formerly The Michigan Gallery with the
intent on opening a theatre to produce his own plays and those of
experimental playwrights. Schneider ran the gallery with Karamanoukian’s
art connections and a few of his own until 11/01/01, when James Puntigam
took over as curator.
