The original façade of the building was modeled after the front of Mount Vernon facing the Potomac River; and the entire structure embraces the feel of a plantation-style mansion. An extensive collection of antiques, along with a few items original to the Inn, complements the casually elegant décor.
Extensive renovation has restored much of the Inn’s traditional warmth and grandeur; while adding modern features and conveniences necessary for a building next to one of the country’s best universities. And today The Carolina Inn has 185 guestrooms and suites, a Four-Diamond and Four-Star restaurant, over 14,000 sq feet of unique event space, elegant ballrooms and meticulously landscaped courtyards.
